Good Governance Institute’s following project was aimed at strengthening and deepening the understanding and knowledge about the elections and civic involvement. The project was held in Gori and 24 applicants from 10 different educational institutions were selected for participation. The program had two objectives: to inform the youth about the election and politic-related matters and allow them to get the practical experience from the state institutions.

The educational training combined topics about: the mechanism of the youth involvement and youth politics; polity of Georgia; formation proceedings of the electable institutions; election and legislative process analysis. The participants learned about political ideologies, gender equality, Georgian political parties and the role of media in the elections. The pre and post-assessment tests indicated that the training courses increased the level of knowledge by 87%.

As for the practical experience, participants visited 11 state institutions, non-governmental organizations, local authorities, and media organizations, in Gori, Kareli, Khashuri, Kaspi, and Ergneti. The participants also visited the Presidential Palace of Georgia where they were granted the certificates for completing the project.

The project enhanced the knowledge of the participants about the election and politically related topics, as well as emphasized the importance of the 2018 Presidential Election characteristics. And as they had the opportunity to have a better understanding of the current political and legal climate, they are now encouraged to experience information-based voting.
